Biography

Alexander Hill, is a classical, jazz, and electronic musician, composer, and educator with the primary instrument of tuba. He is a Miraphone Tubas Performing and Recording Artist.

Orchestral performing is amongst Alex’s specialties. He has worked with and substituted for many orchestras, bands, brass quintets, and chamber ensembles including the Nashville Symphony Orchestra, Bryan Symphony Orchestra, Chattanooga Symphony Orchestra, Richmond Symphony Orchestra, Monterey Pops Orchestra, Foothill Symphonic Winds, and the Bay Philharmonic.

Alex is a native of Tullahoma, Tennessee. He found his love of music through artists such as Hiromi and orchestral arrangements of video game music. His teachers throughout his early life were euphoniumist Atticus Hensley and his band directors Stephen Coleman, Marion Coleman, Greg English, and Justin Scott.

Alex obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education from Tennessee Tech University. Here he studied with the renowned R. Winston Morris and performed with the Tennessee Tech Tuba Ensemble. Together they went on several tours, recorded the album “Carnegie VIII: Evolutions”, and in 2014 performed at Carnegie Hall in New York City.

He then went to Illinois State University and obtained a Master’s Degree in Music Performance. He studied with Dr. Andrew Rummel and recorded two CDs with the Illinois State Wind Symphony.

Upon graduation in 2016, Alex quickly established a foundation in brass private lessons, tuba recording, live performances, and substitute gigging throughout Tennessee, Virginia, and California.

In 2017, Alex joined the creation of a new brass ensemble called The Game Brass. This ensemble was created to combine the communities of video game music and the classical world. These six musicians came from various walks of life. They each have backgrounds in game scoring, video game composition, film orchestration, YouTube, education, session work, voice acting, and more.
Together with The Game Brass, Alex has hand in creating over 180 music videos, 7 independently released albums, several performances at the Music and Gaming Festival (MAGFEST), video games, with Scott The Woz’s 200th Episode on Youtube, Devolver Digital’s E3 presentation, and more.
The Game Brass is an award winning ensemble that Alex is incredibly proud of being a part of. Blazing their own path and creating works of music to combine his passions is something that Alex holds dear.

Alex also composes classical, jazz, and electronic music for commissions, live-streams, video games, and for independent releases. While he has been composing music as a hobby since 2010, he officially started releasing electronic music under the name Kaijuba in 2020. Since then he has given panels at events such as Video Game Music Together and has had a booth and been featured at the the Virtual Reality convention, Furality, multiple times. His goal is to write music that people can relate to and melodies that move people with emotions and memories.

Currently, he lives in the San Francisco Bay Area where he teaches brass lessons at Heriz music, performs all across the SF Bay Area, records tuba, and composes.

Additionally, Alex has gained non-music experiences such as working with students and programs as a Program Support Specialist with the International Scholarship and Tuition Services. He has worked as stage crew for the Nashville Symphony as well as a Stage Crew Manager for Illinois State University. Alex has managed social media and discord for game and VR communities, as well as for The Game Brass’s community. He also served as the Artistic Operations Manager for the Golden State Youth Orchestras from 2022-2024.

Alex’s goals are to continue performing tuba for orchestras, continue growing his successful brass lessons studio in the SF Bay Area, compose music for brass ensembles and orchestras, and compose classical, jazz, and electronic music for video games.
